What is the best format for ringtones?

I have ripped some songs from some of my cds, and are working with them to make vyzváněcí tóny .
about 30 seconds in length.
But what is the best "format"
The originals are in WAV files stereo, but for easy downloading to cellphones I think it is best to convert them to mp3.
But what are the best nowdays should they be in stereo or mono?
