So I took my Prado in for a routine service last week and the guy at the garage mentioned that when my battery eventually dies I should consider upgrading to something called an AGM because of all the extra stuff I have installed like the dash cam and the fridge in the back when I go camping. I'd never even heard of AGM before and honestly thought a battery was just a battery. He wasn't pushy about it or trying to sell me one on the spot but it got me curious so I started reading up online. Came across this page with

on emiratesinside that explained the whole AGM versus standard thing in a really straightforward way. Apparently the heat here and the way modern cars draw power even when they're off makes AGMs a better fit for a lot of people. My current battery is still fine for now but I'm trying to decide if I should just wait until it dies or be proactive and swap it out before summer hits when everything gets more stressful on the electrical system. Anyone here made the switch and noticed their battery lasting longer in the heat?
