Been saving up for ages to get myself a nice 2017 Land Cruiser GXR and I finally found one that ticks all the boxes, white exterior, tan interior, low mileage for the year, the whole package. The guy selling it is a small dealer in Ras Al Khor and he showed me a service booklet that looks like it's been stamped at various garages around Dubai, but some of the stamps look kind of faded and one of them doesn't even have a date next to it. I asked if he had any digital records or invoices and he said they got lost when the previous owner moved back to Abu Dhabi. I really want this car because it's exactly what I've been looking for and the price is reasonable, but my gut is telling me not to ignore these little warning signs. A friend of mine said I should just get a proper inspection done that focuses on the mechanical condition and not worry so much about the paperwork because a clean report would tell me more than a booklet full of stamps anyway. I've been looking at a service called

that does compression tests and checks for overlanding wear which is apparently a big thing with these Cruisers since people take them out into the desert. I guess I'm just wondering if I'm being too picky about the service history or if my gut is right to be cautious before dropping that much money on something that might have been neglected.
