EZNPC Why Orbs of Transmutation Still Matter in PoE 3.26+

Orbs of Transmutation in Path of Exile 1 are your go-to early crafting currency: farm them from dense zones, Heist, and vendors, then roll quick magic upgrades and prep bases for Alteration spam.

Whether you're chilling in Standard or sprinting through a fresh league start, you'll notice pretty fast that Transmutes quietly run the whole show. You don't "farm" them so much as you constantly need them, because every small upgrade begins with turning a normal base into something you can actually work with. How You Actually Sustain Them

Then you start adding Augments, maybe chasing one good mod, and suddenly the pile is gone. Maps are another quiet sink. Early on, transmuting white maps for completion is normal, and it's safer than rolling something that deletes your XP bar. And if you're doing the classic "hit a fresh base, check the mods, scour, repeat" loop, transmutes are the entry fee every single time.

Trade League Shortcuts and Small Tricks

If you're in trade, don't cosplay SSF unless you want to. Buying in bulk is often the smartest play, because your time is worth more than squeezing shards out of Act zones. Vendors can cover emergencies, but the rates are usually rough, so treat that as a last resort. Also, don't get cute with your filter. Leaving transmutes out completely is how you end up staring at the bench craft you want and realizing you're missing the most basic currency in the game. Keep a decent stack in stash and top it up whenever you do a big vendor dump.

Keeping Momentum in SSF

In SSF, the trick is rhythm: pick up a few extra small rares and blues, vendor them unidentified, and don't skip Heist days when you're low. You're not trying to hoard forever; you're trying to avoid that dead stop where you can't roll flasks, can't touch early maps, and can't even start a craft on a good base.
