How the build actually comes online
A lot of players swap too early and then wonder why the build feels rough. Don't do that. In the campaign, Rolling Magma still carries the early acts better because it's simple, cheap, and doesn't ask for the full engine yet. Once you hit Act 3 and can properly link Spellslinger with Desecrate and Volatile Dead, the build starts to make sense. From there, the gameplay loop is almost absurdly easy to read. Volatile Dead doesn't always care what you want dead first, and when adds keep spawning, target priority can turn into a small nightmare.
