Why is my company withholding 22% when I’m in a higher tax bracket?

Hi everyone,

I just noticed that my payroll department uses a flat rate for my bonuses and stock units, which seems a bit low for my total annual income. I’m worried that this rsu supplemental wage withholding is going to leave me with a massive bill when I file my taxes next year.

My colleague mentioned that companies often stick to the minimum required by the IRS, even if it doesn't cover the full liability for high earners. Does anyone know if I can manually increase my rsu supplemental wage withholding?

Thanks in advance.
